Grammy award-winning artist Megan Thee Stallion announced on May 30 at Dream Convention that she will be creating her own anime premiering Amazon Prime Video.
“You ain’t never seen an anime like this in your life,” said Megan.
During the branding panel where she made the announcement, Megan mentioned she would be working on this project alongside The Boondocks Executive Producer, Carl Jones and his animation studio We Are Martian.

Since her debut in the rap game, Megan Thee Stallion made it clear that she’s been a lifelong otaku. On nearly all of her albums, you’ll hear at least one lyric related to anime.

Even more recently, she collaborated with Airbnb for the Otaku Hottie Quest. Participants completed challenges in the Otakuverse created by the Hot Girl Coach.
“Anime has always been a passion of mine, so I’m really excited for the Hotties to get a little taste of my world,” Megan told Refinery29.
“It’s going to be an adventure that the Hotties are going to absolutely love.”

An anime by Megan Thee Stallion is such a pioneer, groundbreaking move in so many ways. What I consistently appreciate about Megan is that she’s not afraid to push the boundaries of what or where an “artist” can go.
And the best part: at the end of the day, she’s being herself.
She teased us last year with an animated music video for her song “Neva Play” with Namjoon (RM) of BTS. I REALLY believe this series made build on that.
While no further details were shared, convention goers in attendance applauded excitedly in anticipation for what Megan Thee Stallion would create.
